Directory of Services

If you are struggling for any reason,

HELP IS CLOSE

The Lancaster District Directory contains lots of information about services and activities in the community that can help your wellbeing, as well as specific support for the issues you may be facing.

Click Here to visit the Directory.

The Activity Type box finds services in various categories and the Keyword Search bar will help you narrow down the results.

For example, you could select Addiction in the Activity Type box and then search for alcohol.

All your results will include a Find out More button where you can see contact details and print out the service information.

If you’re having trouble finding something that could help, visit the Contact Us page . This site is not linked to emergency services – we will respond within five working days.

Accessing Urgent Mental Health Support

If you are thinking of taking your own life or seriously harming yourself:

  • call 999 and ask for an ambulance, or
  • get to your nearest Accident & Emergency Department. The Royal Lancaster Infirmary on Ashton Road, Lancaster LA1 4RP serves our district.
  • Alternatively, call the Initial Response Service (Mental Health Crisis Line) on 0800 013 0710 – calls are free and the line is open 24/7.

If you can’t do this by yourself, get someone to help you. Mental health emergencies are serious, and you’re not wasting anyone’s time.

You can also anonymously contact support services:

  • Contact a Samaritan on 116 123 – if you need someone to talk to who won’t judge or tell you what to do. Whatever you’re going through, you can call them anytime, day or night from any phone for free.
  • Text SHOUT for free 24/7 on 85258 for confidential, anonymous support.
  • Contact the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) by phone, live chat or WhatsApp, 5pm – midnight every day.

If you are under 18 and would like to ‘talk’ to someone about how you are feeling, you can contact:

  • Calm Harm, via their app (for over 13s) which can help you manage the urge to self harm
  • Frank, for honest information about drugs, on 0300 123 6600
  • Childline, to access a free and confidential counsellor online or on the phone, on 0800 1111
  • Kooth, via their website and app, to chat anonymously to a counsellor
  • SHOUT for free via text 24/7 on 85258 for confidential, anonymous support.
